We are still buzzing from our Rally Day back on Sunday 25th July and what a fantastic day it was for all of our clubs, members, family and friends. The day was a huge success topped off by the much loved Dairy Queen competition, which was held outside for the first time in over 25 years!
This year there was strong competition with 18 entries in total, the most we’ve had for some years. Our panel of judges chaired by Alison Moreton and consisting of Frank Speed, Dawn Venables and Julie Thornill had a tough job on their hands whittling the 18 down to 12 then 6 and finally picking our winning Dairy Queen and her 2 Dairy Maids.
There were a couple of changes to the competition this year. For the first time the top 12 entrants gave a short speech about themselves and their involvement in YFC followed by the top 6 answering the question ‘If you were to win Dairy Queen, what would you most be looking forwards to in the coming year?’. The new format worked well with us learning a lot about the members taking part.
After all of the waiting and anticipation we were delighted to crown our new Dairy Maids, Fiona Wilshaw from Altrincham YFC and Emma Windsor from Nantwich YFC, and our brand new Dairy Queen, from Beeston YFC Kate Young.
We are sure they will have a fantastic year and cannot wait to see how they get on.
