Hobbies, Pastimes and Careers competition returned for the first time in 9 years.
Held at Reaseheath in the lecture theatre, we saw 9 clubs take to the floor to talk about a passion of their choice.
We heard about careers in agricultural consultancy (including Ella’s passion for soil), utility management and animal physiotherapy.
We learnt about rare pastimes and hobbies; from sign painting on lorries to gundog training, from taekwondo to race car marshalling … we heard it all.
There was a comforting atmosphere in the lecture theatre encouraging the members to have a go, and give it their all. It was lovely to see each member step up to the podium and quickly settle into a flow and speak so passionately.
The winner this year was James Brunt from Macclesfield YFC talking about his hobby, well more recently career, in sheep shearing. James’ passion for shearing dazzled our judges Katie Jones and Angela Bowcock. Thank you both for giving up your time.
Thank you also to Butchers and Barlow for sponsoring the competition.
